The fixed point action for the Schwinger model : a perturbative approach

چکیده
We compute the fixed point action of a properly defined renormaliza-tion group transformation for the Schwinger model through an expansion in the gauge field. It is local, with couplings exponentially suppressed with the distance. We check its perfection by computing the 1-loop mass gap at finite spatial volume, finding only exponentially vanishing cut off effects, in contrast with the standard action, which is affected by large power-like cut off effects. We point out that the 1-loop mass gap calculation provides a check of the classical perfection of the fixed point action, and not of the 1-loop perfection, as could be naively expected.

The Strong Running Coupling from an Approximate Gluon Dyson-schwinger Equation
Using Mandelstam’s approximation to the gluon Dyson-Schwinger equation we calculate the gluon self-energy in a renormalisation group invariant fashion. We obtain a non-perturbative β function. The scaling behaviour near the ultraviolet stable fixed point is in good agreement with perturbative QCD. No further fixed point for positive values of the coupling is found: αS increases without bound in...
متن کاملThe Infrared Behaviour of αS from Mandelstam’s Approximation to the Gluon Dyson–Schwinger Equation
The infrared behaviour of the running coupling in strong interactions, αS , is of great interest, since it may provide an understanding of confinement. Its study is an intrinsically non–perturbative problem. One suitable framework to address this problem is provided by the Dyson–Schwinger equations of QCD. Using Mandelstam’s approximation to the gluon Dyson–Schwinger equation we calculate the g...

A bi-isotropic magneto-electric metamaterials is modeled by two independent reservoirs. The reservoirs contain a continuum of three dimensional harmonic oscillators, which describe polarizability and magnetizability of the medium. The paper aimed to investigate the effect of electromagnetic field on bi-isotropic. Starting with a total Lagrangian and using Euler-Lagrange equation, researcher cou...

In this paper, we present an algebraic formalism inspired by Butcher’s B-series in numerical analysis and the Connes-Kreimer approach to perturbative renormalization. We first define power series of non linear operators and propose several applications, among which the perturbative solution of a fixed point equation using the non linear geometric series. Then, following Polchinski, we show how ...
متن کاملSolving a Coupled Set of Truncated QCD Dyson–Schwinger Equations
Truncated Dyson–Schwinger equations represent finite subsets of the equations of motion for Green’s functions. Solutions to these non–linear integral equations can account for non–perturbative correlations. A closed set of coupled Dyson–Schwinger equations for the propagators of gluons and ghosts in Landau gauge QCD is obtained by neglecting all contributions from irreducible 4–point correlatio...
